God damn it, where are the men on the net?I mean, I do like pictures of women. I try and avoid the Barbie-form porn star standard and find pictures of women whose tits are in proportion to the amount of flesh on the rest of their bodies, but it's not all that hard to find them, whether I'm looking at amateur web cam sites or the more artistic erotica galleries at Nerve or Clean Sheets. In that regard, finding non-traditional bodies, the Net is a lot better than most printed porn magazines or movies. But although the people in my fantasies are largely male, the pictures in the porn directory on my hard drive are largely female.
The web cams and amateur sites are mostly women. The art photographers, be they male or female, take pictures of women. Even pictures of male-female sex acts have the woman's head in the shot and the man's cut off a lot of the time. A male body is better than nothing when it comes to pictures, but isn't there anybody who thinks a male face and body can be as worth looking at as a woman's?
So I end up at gay-male-oriented sites. At least there are men there. However, professional gay male porn is as bad as professional straight porn for promoting one and only one body type -- Mr. Muscleman. I get tired of him real fast -- I like wiry guys, thin guys, guys who spend too much time at their computer and are getting a little flabby, guys whose faces aren't so relentlessly clean-cut and male-model-like, real-life guys! You would barely know real-life guys existed if you went by the pictures on the Net.
The occasional scan of a Polaroid that isn't too badly lit rewards my search. (I do admit to a prejudice for decent lighting and photography, and poses other than sprawled on a couch or bed, erection in hand.) The times when I find a good place for pictures of men are so rare as to not show up in the bookmark file.
Am I just taking the wrong approach in my search? I'd love to hear any tips, because right now I'm convinced that it will take a major shift in psychology for most people to come to the conclusion that the male body is as beautiful and as much worth looking at as the female body, and that there really is an audience for such pictures, and that female-oriented sites can have more than stories and advice columns. Maybe I'll see that shift someday.
